Most Fiji accommodation is located on a secluded beachfront, sometimes on an uninhabited island. Dining is generally locked in to the resort restaurant, often with inflated prices, and sightseeing can prove difficult, or expensive when staying on a remote island.

The best beaches and water activities are in the Mamanuca islands, a one hour boat journey from Nadi. Backpackers head further north to the Yasawa Islands which are less developed and less commercial, whilst adventurers head to the outer islands of Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Beqa and Kadavu all of which have world class scuba diving and traditional villages to visit..
