Fiji is a collection of over 300 islands and lies at the crossroads of the Pacific Ocean. Historically, it is the division between Melanesia to the West and Polynesia to the North, East and South. Today it is the hub of South Pacific trade and the major stopover for flights between New Zealand and USA as well as between its South Pacific neighbours. Nadi Airport & Denarau



Nadi International Airport, on the west coast of Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji, is the arrival point of all tourist to fiji. This dry sunny town is set slightly inland from the ocean and has rapidly grown with Fiji's tourist boom. The beach areas of Wailoaloa and New Town offers budget hotels and upmarket Denarau island has a championship golf course and several large hotel chains. This is a good base for exploring with excellent value hotels or as a stopover before moving to the offshore or outer islands.


Coral Coast & Suva



The Coral Coast, an hour plus from Nadi Airport on the south coast of Viti Levu, is a popular resort area. With easy access from the airport, this is a popular choice for families and for those wishing to make sightseeing trips along the stunning coast which offers sandunes, traditional villages and stunning rainforests.


Mamanucas & Yasawa Islands



Fiji's most popular tourist destination is the offshore islands. The Mamanuca Islands has a handful of upmarket beach resorts aimed at either couples or families and have great beaches, excellent snorkelling and in general lots of water activities. this is the holiday playground. Further north is the more sedate Yasawa group with several extremely upmarket resorts as well as the Fiji backpacker trail with a string of budget beach huts along the islands.


Outer Islands



The outer islands of Vanua Levu (Savusavu), Taveuni and Kadavu are much less commercialised than other tourist destinations in Fiji and here you'll experience genuine Fijian hospitality. The outer islands have some of the best scuba diving reefs in the world as well as world class reef surfing breaks. These islands also make an excellent eco-destination with tropical rainforest, waterfalls, walking trails and endemic bird species.
