Fiji is a collection of small islands with many resorts on uninhabited islands or in secluded bays making sightseeing beyond the immediate vicinity quite challenging. The best island for sightseeing is Viti Levu, the largest island, followed by Taveuni in the north which has an excellent Nature Park. Otherwise, one of the best ways to take in the scenery, beaches, lagoons and traditional fishing villages is on an overnight cruise through the beautiful Yasawa Islands:

Viti Levu - the main island
Being one of the largest islands in the South Pacific, and with decent tourist numbers, the main island of Viti Levu offers the best Fiji sightseeing holidays. The most accessible sights are along the Coral Coast, with the natural environment of the Sigatoka Sandunes National Park, the family-fun Kula Eco Park with parrots, iguanas and other local fauna; the Sigatoka Pottery Village and River Valley, historical sites including cannibal sacrificial totems, several beautiful waterfalls and the fabulous rainforest along the Navua River with bamboo rafting, white water rafting, zip-lining and village visits. Perhaps one of the most outstanding natural scenes in Fiji is the traditional thatch village of Navala, inland from Ba along the north coast of Viti Levu, which boasts over 200 thatch houses and only the school and church using cement walls. Navala is a two hour thirty minute drive from Nadi and available on guided tours.
Most of the sights on Viti Levu are accessible on day tours from Nadi, which has the added bonus of being on the doorstep of the Mamanuca Islands which can be visited on numerous day cruises, game fishing charters, sailing excursions and snorkelling trips that depart from Port Denarau.
Another great way of visiting the best sights on the main island is by hiring a car from Nadi - there are a dozen car rental agencies at the Airport with rates starting from around F$ 40 per day including insurance. If you don't fancy driving yourself, consider the Feejee Experience which circumnavigates Viti Levu in three days stopping at the major sites along the way including Suva which boasts the excellent Fiji Museum.
Feejee Experience, Viti Levu F$ 390 per couple for 1 Night
The Feejee Experience is the only sightseeing tour that explores the main island of Viti Levu and gets you to some wonderful beach locations, historical sites, traditional villages, tropical rainforests, to the capital city of Suva and along the remote Sunshine Coast. Hop-on and -off along the way.
All the outer islands have local sights that resorts offer as day trips. more often than not including a visit to the local village school. Areas of notable sightseeing attractions in the outer islands are Taveuni, in particular the Bouma National Heritage Park with waterfalls and coastal walks; and on Ovalau Island with the charming historical old capital of Levuka.
